This year marks the City of Vero Beach Centennial, and it is also the Centennial for St. Helen Catholic Church. Kindergarten and Eighth-grade students represented St. Helen Catholic School and our parish community at a special Centennial Tree Dedication Ceremony.
The Centennial Tree was donated to the school by the City of Vero Beach Centennial Committee who donated a total of thirty trees to public, charter and private schools throughout Indian River County. The 30-gallon oak trees were all generously provided by Becker Tree Farms.
The St. Helen Catholic School Centennial Oak was planted along 20
th Avenue in front of the new school administrative offices and adjacent to the original church.
“We are very excited to be celebrating our centennial along with the City of Vero Beach and we are thankful for this wonderful symbol of our 100
th year. The tree was planted in front of the new school administrative offices located on 20
th Avenue and directly adjacent to the original church. The location of the St. Helen Catholic School Centennial Oak along with the participation of our oldest and newest students serves as a symbol of our past and our future. This oak is something that our entire parish will cherish for years to come,” said Lisa Bell, Principal.
